Using DVLA lookup to auto-fill vehicle details

Save time by letting KAIRO pull vehicle details directly from the DVLA database.

How it works

  • When adding a new vehicle, enter the registration number in the reg field.
  • Click "Look up" or press Enter.
  • KAIRO queries the DVLA and fills in:
  • Make and model
  • Year of manufacture
  • Colour
  • Fuel type
  • Engine size
  • CO2 emissions
  • MOT expiry date
  • Tax status
  • What to check

  • Vehicle class — DVLA doesn't know your fleet categories, so you'll need to set the class manually (E-Class, S-Class, etc.).
  • Insurance — Insurance details aren't available from DVLA. Enter these manually.
  • PHV licence — Private hire vehicle licence details must be added separately.
  • Troubleshooting

  • If lookup fails, the registration may not be in the DVLA database yet (new vehicles) or may be a non-UK plate.
  • You can always enter details manually if the lookup doesn't find a match.
