Drivers and pay. The working week, from tap to statement.

The driver taps en route, arrived, on board and completed. Kairo nudges when a tap is late, applies your no-show policy, calculates pay from your rules, and watches the documents that expire.

The rules a driver works under.

Pay, no-shows, nudges and documents each have a default below. Where you can change it, the sentence says so.

  1. Pay follows a fixed order

A job pays the per-job override if the office set one, else the driver's flat rate, else their commission percentage. Commission is taken on the job's value before tax, so a job sold at 100 pounds plus tax pays a 45% driver 45 pounds. Tips are added on top. Waiting time is not paid.

  2. A confirmed no-show is paid

A no-show the office has confirmed bills the customer the full fare and pays the driver as a normal job. It is labelled as a no-show on the statement so it is not queried as an error.

  3. Statements run every Monday

Weekly pay is calculated at 09:00 UTC each Monday for the week just closed and stored for every active driver with a pay rate. It is emailed as a PDF only when statement sending is switched on, which it is not by default.

  4. Three tax treatments

A self-employed driver registered for tax gets a self-billed invoice with the tax recoverable. One who is not registered gets a self-billed invoice without it. An employed driver gets neither.

  5. No-show grace is 15 minutes, or 60 at an airport

The grace clock starts at the later of the driver's arrival and the booked time. Both bands are adjustable from 0 to 480 minutes. By default the driver must log a contact attempt before reporting a no-show, and a photo is optional.

  6. Nudges are off until you turn them on

With nudges on, a driver who has not tapped en route is pushed from 15 minutes before pickup until 60 minutes after. Arrived is nudged from 5 minutes after the pickup time. On board is nudged 20 minutes after arrival, or 45 minutes at an airport. Each nudge fires once per job, checked every 5 minutes, with no quiet hours.

  7. Clock-in reminders are capped

Hourly-paid drivers get at most two shift-clock nudges a day, none between 22:00 and 06:30 in your time zone: clock in when the first job is 45 minutes away, and end the shift after 45 minutes idle.

  8. Undo end within ten minutes

A driver who ends a shift by mistake can reopen it within 10 minutes, provided the shift lasted under 5 minutes. The undo is stamped in the same audit trail as an office correction.

  9. Seven days of work, offline

The Driver App caches the next 7 days of jobs, with fares and passenger tracking tokens stripped out, so a job still opens in a basement car park.

  10. Vehicle documents are chased daily

At 09:00 in your time zone, a digest lists vehicle documents due within 30 days or already passed, up to 50 items, urgent first. MOT and road tax are cross-checked with DVLA where supported, and a status of Not valid, Untaxed or SORN is marked urgent. Missing dates show in Fleet but do not trigger an email. The digest is on by default.

  11. Driver documents show red, amber, green

On the driver page, a licence or document is red once expired, amber within 60 days and green beyond. There is no automatic email for driver documents.

The driver sees what payroll sees.

Earnings in the Driver App and the weekly statement come from the same calculation, so a driver never sees a figure the office cannot explain.

Receipts go in from the app, and documents stay on the driver's profile, where the expiry dates feed the checks.

  • One pay calculation for the app and the statement
  • Receipts and documents from the app
  • Status taps feed dispatch and the passenger page
The Driver App earnings screen from the design fixture. Synthetic names and values, not a real driver.

Each line below is taken from the comparison page it links to, where the vendor's own pages are listed as sources. Those pages also say what each system does well.

  • iCabbiComparison row: Driver app. Research checked 6 September 2026.

Yes. Driver Docs handles self-service onboarding with DVLA checks and document expiry reminders, and Driver Pay handles scheduled or instant payouts, alongside a white-label passenger app.

  • DeverComparison row: Xero + Stripe. Research checked 6 September 2026.

Both. Invoices, credit notes and driver pay export to Xero, Sage or QuickBooks, and the DISPATCH software page lists card payments with Pay now links on bookings and invoices. Dever names no processor, so we cannot say it is Stripe.

What to know before you rely on it

The Driver App and pay statements are on every plan. Expense tracking and the driver rota need the Growth plan. Statements are calculated every week but only emailed once you turn sending on, and a driver with no pay rate set is left out of the run.
